COUNTY LINE ROAD BRIDGE CLOSED

The County Line Road Bridge that carries County Line Road over Swamp Creek in Douglass Township was closed to all traffic today. The bridge will be closed indefinitely due to deficiencies found in the structure of the bridge.

Detour signs have been posted and it consists of a 1.7 mile detour utilizing Swamp Creek Road, Montgomery Avenue and Route 100. Please plan your travel accordingly with these new traffic patterns.

The County Line Road bridge was originally constructed in 1939. Currently Douglass Township is in the process of engineering and seeking funding for a complete bridge replacement. A timeline for completion cannot be determined at this time but we will provide updates as we receive additional information.

Emergency Services in both Montgomery and Berks Counties have been notified of this closure and have adjusted emergency response plans accordingly.
